It’s very easy for us to get caught up in the day-to-day routines of life and lose track of our sense of fragility. When things are hard, it feels like life will last forever; but it won’t. Nothing does. I feel like every few months, I’m reminded of it. One of my best childhood friends lost his mom when he was 17. My assistant coach lost his dad when he was 16. One of my teammates lost his mom to a sudden unforeseeable stroke. What do you take away from something like that?
You are going to die. What are you going to do about it? Are you making choices to enjoy your life and live thankfully? Do your friends know how important they are to your happiness? Do your family members know how grateful you are to have them? This is a good time for a reality check.
